The University of Florida basketball team switched hotels Saturday in Syracuse, N.Y., because marijuana was being smoked in the room next to one being shared by two of his players, Coach Norm Sloan said.
With the NCAA conducting drug tests during the tournament, Sloan said he was fearful of “secondary (marijuana) smoking” getting into his players’ systems.
According to Sloan, a pot party was going on in a room next to the one occupied by Vernon Maxwell and Andrew Moten, the Gators’ leading scorers.
Florida, winner of its first-round game, 82-70, over North Carolina State Friday, plays Purdue today at the Carrier Dome.
