The Raiders must pay the City of Oakland rent for a practice field the team continued to use after moving to Los Angeles in 1982, a state appeals court ruled in San Francisco.
The appeals court upheld a lower-court ruling requiring the team to pay $2,500 a month as a reasonable charge for use of the field between September, 1982, when the team moved, and April, 1984, when the case was tried.
The Raiders had paid $1 a year for the use of the field under terms of its Oakland Coliseum lease.
