The Los Angeles Coliseum Commission has chosen Architects Pacific Ltd., Newport Beach, to design parking facilities valued at about $75 million for Exposition Park.

The scope of the project’s first phase includes a five-level structure on Martin Luther King Boulevard, a four-level garage on Figueroa Street and surface parking on Vermont Avenue.

The first phase will provide 3,320 more parking spaces--there currently is a shortage of 20,000 parking spaces on major event days--in Exposition Park without taking away any green space, according to J. Todd Stoutenborough, director of design at the architectural firm.

“The design of the multilevel structures will be in concert with the architecture of the neighboring buildings,” he added. “The structures will include the latest security features and will be landscaped to enhance the park setting, while providing good access to all park facilities.”
