Tillis to Fight Bruno in London Tuesday
James (Quick) Tillis, one of only three men to go the distance with world champion Mike Tyson, will be Frank Bruno’s opponent for the British heavyweight’s comeback fight at Wembley Arena Tuesday.
Tillis, who last year lost a 10-round decision to Tyson, stepped in as a substitute after fellow American Greg Page pulled out because of a cut suffered in training.
Bruno, 25, has not fought since losing his challenge for the World Boxing Assn. title against American Tim Witherspoon last July.
“Frank, Tillis and Tyson have all been in the same gym together when they trained in the United States a few years ago. At the time, Tillis was probably the leading heavyweight contender,” Bruno’s manager Terry Lawless said.
