Erb Breaks SDSU Strikeout Record

San Diego State University pitcher Mike Erb broke the 27-year-old SDSU career strikeout record in leading the Aztecs to an 8-1 victory over Bowling Green Sunday on Smith Field.

Erb's strikeout of the first batter in the fifth inning gave him 238 for his career, breaking the mark of 237 set by Bill Ruzich in 1948-50. Erb (3-2) struck out 10 in eight innings to raise his career total to 241.
