What’s It Take to Finish 1st on Front Sports Page?
With the greatest assemblage of jockeys and trainers at any race track in the United States, it’s difficult for any one jockey to win more than two races a day. So, when Laffit Pincay sets a Santa Anita record by winning seven of nine races on March 15, I thought it should have been the lead story on the sports page. But, nooooooo! Pincay’s story was placed in the lower right corner of the page. I almost missed it.
Come on, you give more ink to Lasorda when he goes on a diet or when Reggie is left speechless. Come to think of it, they would be monumental stories, wouldn’t they? Laffit should have been given his due.
