There also have a been a few historical no-shows. Marlon Brando sent Sacheen Littlefeather to refuse his best-actor Oscar for “The Godfather” in 1973. George C. Scott snubbed the awards (and the prize) in 1970 for his winning performance in “Patton.” Neither Brando nor Scott has ever collected his statuette. Best No-Show: Katharine Hepburn, who has never attended the ceremonies for her 12 nominations and four awards. (She attended only once, to present the Irving Thalberg award to her friend, producer Lawrence Weingarten, in 1974.)
