A man was shot and killed while trying to help another man being assaulted by three others, San Jose police said. The Santa Clara County coroner identified the dead man as Reginald Brown, 36. Officer Veronica Damon said Brown saw his apartment manager being attacked by three men at their 2710 Kollmar Drive complex. She said Brown, an assistant manager for the building, tried to intervene when one of the assailants pulled a revolver and shot him at close range. The assailants fled on foot and Brown was pronounced dead at the scene. The apartment manager was treated at a hospital for head wounds received during the scuffle and released, Damon said.
