Coast Guard officials say two great white sharks feasting on a dead gray whale dissuaded divers, swimmers and boaters from entering the waters of Monterey Bay over the weekend. Petty Officer Bill Rouse said that when the sharks appeared to be in no hurry to leave the area, the Coast Guard decided to tow the whale carcass several miles out to sea in hopes the sharks would follow. The sharks were reported to be about 19 feet and 15 feet in length.
