Testimony in the “Twilight Zone” involuntary manslaughter trial concluded three hours early because of the Academy Awards ceremonies at the nearby Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roger W. Boren said he decided on calling it a day early because of the formidable traffic jam the annual event creates--and not because any of the participants in the trial, stemming from the film set deaths of actor Vic Morrow and two child actors, would be late for the festivities. Indeed, all five defendants said they would not be attending the Oscars. Director John Landis explained that he did not feel it would be “appropriate” in the midst of the trial.
