Local News in Brief : N. Hollywood Woman Dies in Head-On Crash

A North Hollywood woman died Friday night in a head-on collision about two miles east of Pearblossom, authorities said.

Carol Lucas, 33, was a passenger in an eastbound Cadillac that struck a westbound Lincoln Continental while trying to pass a slow-moving car on California 138 at 9:30 p.m., California Highway Patrol Officer Kent Buzbee said.

Lucas was pronounced dead at Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center an hour later.

The driver of the Cadillac, Andre Murden, 22, also of North Hollywood, and another passenger, Charles Jordan, 26, of Granada Hills, were treated for minor injuries at Palmdale Hospital Medical Center.

The two occupants of the Lincoln, residents of Vancouver, Wash., were admitted to Antelope Valley Hospital with moderate injuries.
