The United States Football League has appealed the damages portion of the league’s antitrust suit against the National Football League last July.
A jury decided June 30 in New York that the NFL was guilty of violating an antitrust law but awarded damages of just $1--which totaled $3 because damages are tripled in antitrust cases. The NFL has filed a cross appeal, challenging the jury’s verdict that the NFL is an unlawful monopoly. The NFL brief is due May 18.
