Linebacker Steve Sanders, formerly of El Modena High School, and tight end Trevor Molini were dismissed Friday from Brigham Young University for suspected prescription drug violations, BYU officials said.
The two players, who would have been seniors next season, had been on probation at BYU for the past four months after admitting they had been involved in using forged prescriptions to obtain the pain killer Percodan.
Police said Sanders and Molini, of Reno, Nev., were arrested after Sanders allegedly tried to illegally obtain the prescription pain killer Vicodin. Sanders was arrested at a pharmacy and Molini at his apartment.
