Sacrifice Fly Gives Aztecs Split With USIU
United States International took advantage of three San Diego State errors to rally for three runs in the sixth inning and a 3-1 victory in the first game of a softball doubleheader at USIU Wednesday.
The Aztecs (15-24-1) won the second game, 2-1, in extra innings, after Robin Long scored on Juli Glass’ sacrifice fly to center in the ninth. USIU is 17-18-1.
In the first game, USIU’s Karen Winkler (7-3) allowed three hits in a complete game.
In the second game, Glass (4-1), who had a no-hitter until the seventh inning, went the distance for the victory.
