Irvine : UCI’s Medieval Faire Blends Fun and Facts
UC Irvine’s annual celebration of campus life, the Wayzgoose Medieval Faire, will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., April 25, and the free event is open to the public.
The whimsical day of student and faculty activities is a blend of academics, spring fever and high jinks.
The self-styled “Society of Creative Anachronism,” which prides itself on recreating the skills of medieval days, will have costumed jugglers, tightrope walkers and mimes.
Serious activities will be intertwined with the fun at Wayzgoose, UCI officials said. The UCI Medical Center and the College of Medicine will offer a pavilion showcasing displays of medical research and technological advances. Free health screening tests also will be available at the pavilion.
Campus visitors will be able to take free trams for tours conducted by student guides. The trams, which will depart from in front of the Administration Building, will make stops to allow passengers to view demonstrations and exhibits at various buildings along the way.
