Bogeys by Buddy Gardner and Dan Forsman, their only misfires of the day, left the two golfers tied for the lead at 206 after Saturday’s third round of the $600,000 Houston Open at The Woodlands, Tex.

Gardner’s bogey came on the par-4, 388-yard 12th hole. Forsman was leading the tournament at 11 under par until he bogeyed No. 17 and fell back into a tie with Gardner.

Gardner, trying to win his first PGA Tour event, shot a five-under-par 67. Forsman had a 68.

Five other golfers--Mike McCullough, Aki Ohmachi, Dave Barr, Jack Renner and Jay Haas--were another stroke back.

Orville Moody and Bruce Crampton shot a tournament-record, 11-under-par 59 to take a one-shot lead after three rounds of the $600,000 Legends of Golf senior tournament at Austin, Tex.

Moody and Crampton came from five shots back to pass second-round leaders Miller Barber and Bob Charles, who had a 65.

Moody and Crampton had a 54-hole total of 23-under-par 187 on the Onion Creek Country Club course. They broke the Legends’ single-round record of 60 set by Sam Snead and Don January in 1982.

Jerry Barber and Doug Ford, at 193 following a third-round 66, took a seven-stroke lead in the optional Legendary Champions division for players 60 and over. Howie Johnson and Jack Fleck were second at 200, followed by Julius Boros and Kel Nagle at 201.
