Authorities on Sunday said they have tentatively identified a woman whose decomposed body was found last week at the bottom of an embankment off Interstate 8 near the East County community of Boulevard.
A spokesman for the San Diego County Coroner’s Office said the woman’s name will not be released until official confirmation is received, probably today or Tuesday.
Police believe the woman, whose nude body was found Thursday, had been dead for at least a week. There were no signs of injuries. The cause of death has yet to be determined.
The body was found just off the shoulder of the highway, about 3 1/2 miles east of Ribbonwood Road in McCain Valley.
The woman was described only as being white and having shoulder-length hair.
