Costa Mesa : Woman Dies of Injuries From Freeway Accident

Share

A 29-year-old Costa Mesa woman died early Saturday morning from injuries suffered when she lost control of her car on the Edinger Avenue on-ramp to the southbound Costa Mesa Freeway.

Vicki T. Holdeman’s car came to rest in a drainage ditch at the side of the freeway at 11:35 p.m. Friday. First, however, it veered across all southbound lanes of the freeway to the center divider, was broadsided by another car and veered back across the freeway, said Rick Crow, California Highway Patrol dispatcher.

The car that hit Holdeman’s was spun 180 degrees and finally stopped in the southbound car-pool lane--facing north, Crow said. Holdeman and the driver of the second car, Robert M. Sheridan, 45, of Newport Beach were treated at the accident scene and then taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
