Three Men Injured in Restaurant Accident

Two men were seriously burned and another was injured Friday when a pressure cooker at a La Jolla restaurant exploded, the San Diego Fire Department reported.

All three men were taken to UC San Diego Medical Center. One of the men still was unconscious late Friday after the 2 p.m. accident. He was listed in serious condition in the hospital’s Burn Center.

The other men were treated and released. One of the men had severe burns on his back and the back of his arms and neck, fire officials said.

Fire Department officials said the pressure cooker at El Tecolote restaurant, 3202 Governor Drive, exploded without warning. No immediate cause could be determined.

The names of the men were unavailable and the owner of the restaurant declined to comment.
