Larson Captures Speedway Main Event

Keith Larson of La Canada won the eight-lap handicap main event at the weekly speedway motorcycle racing program Friday night in front of 5,790 at the Orange County Fairgrounds at Costa Mesa.

Larson was a wire-to-wire winner. Mike Faria of Colton was second, Scott Brown of Long Beach third and Phil Collins of England fourth.

Bobby Schwartz of Costa Mesa won the scratch main. He has won 17 of 22 scratch mains this season at the four Southern California tracks, and three of six at Costa Mesa. Dubb Ferrell of Whittier was second, Brad Oxley of San Clemente third and Faria fourth.
