La Habra : Gang Shooting at Park Leaves Man Wounded
A 21-year-old La Habra man was wounded in the stomach during a gang shooting at Loma Verde Park, police said Sunday.
Jose Rodriguez, 21, was found lying near some bushes with a bullet wound in the stomach when police broke up a fight between two rival La Habra gangs, said Sgt. Perry Miller.
Residents had reported hearing numerous gunshots at the park, Miller said, and “police found about 15 spent casings from bullets.”
An unloaded automatic handgun that had been recently fired was found in Rodriguez’s waistband, according to Miller.
Rodriguez was taken to Whittier Presbyterian Hospital where he was in stable condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
