San Diego High School Baseball : Christian Connects for Five Home Runs to Drive Lincoln to Defeat, 16-4

The Christian High School baseball team hit five home runs, including three consecutive shots in the second inning, en route to 16-4 victory over Lincoln in a City Central League game at Lincoln Tuesday.

Lincoln scored three runs in the first inning before being stopped by Christian starter Jon Okken (9-4), who earned the complete-game victory.

Okken had three of Christian’s home runs, including a two-run shot in the fifth.

In the second inning, Jim Lucks hit a two-run homer, followed by Craig Johnson’s solo shot and Okken’s.

Lincoln (6-7-1, 12-9-1) committed five errors.

In other City Central League action:

San Diego 13, Hoover 3--Sean Tucker went 4 for 4 with three RBIs and struck out eight to lead San Diego (8-5-1, 16-8-1). Jose Espinoza went 3 for 4 and scored 3 runs.

CITY WESTERN LEAGUE Mission Bay 4, University City 1--Mike McMahon went 3 for 4 with one RBI and Sean Rees was 2 for 4 to lead No. 5 Mission Bay (10-4, 17-7) at home. Scott Vonderlieth pitched four innings for the win, and Rick Hurley got the save.

Kearny 7, Clairemont 1--Kearny took advantage of two errors to score four unearned runs in the second inning to upset No. 9 Clairemont (10-4, 13-10-1). Jason Adams keyed the four-run second with a three-run homer. Kearny (4-10. 9-15) added three in the seventh, two coming on a two-out single by Lupe Ford. Brian Archer went the distance for the win, striking out six and allowing three hits.

CITY EASTERN LEAGUE Madison 17, Serra 0--Madison (10-4, 16-8) gained sole possession of first place with the win at Madison. Serra is 3-11 and 8-16.

Morse 4, Patrick Henry 3--Morse (7-7, 13-12) rallied for three runs in the fifth to upset No. 8 Patrick Henry (9-5, 14-7). Patrick Henry drops to second place in the league. Robert Cooper opened the fifth with a double and advanced to third when Patrick Henry pitcher Fabian Lleranes balked. Cooper later scored on a squeeze bunt by Nathan Lunsford. Dave Grigsby singled home Lunsford and later scored on a two-out double by Derwin Proby.

Mira Mesa 6, Point Loma 3--Patrick Cheek went 2 for 2 with an RBI and Eric Estey pitched six innings for the win to pace Mira Mesa (7-7, 12-11). Point Loma is 6-8 and 12-10.

AVOCADO LEAGUE Escondido 13, Oceanside 0--Mike Scales threw a five-hitter to earn the complete-game victory at Escondido. Scales also hit a solo home run in the third to lead No. 10 Escondido (9-2, 12-11), which remains in first place. Oceanside is 5-6 and 7-14.

San Pasqual 2, San Marcos 0--Clint Cruz threw a three-hitter to lead San Pasqual (7-4, 14-9) at home. An error in the fourth and Mike Escarcega’s sacrifice fly in the sixth provided San Pasqual’s runs. San Marcos dropped to 8-4 and 13-11.

Ramona 8, El Camino 3--Oscar Brave and Brent Eidson each hit home runs to pace Ramona (3-8, 3-15-2) at El Camino. El Camino dropped to 0-11 and 2-17.

PALOMAR LEAGUE Fallbrook 7, Orange Glen 1--T.J. Flynn had two home runs and four RBIs and Jason Rusk added a three-run homer to pace Fallbrook (6-5, 17-8) at No. 2 Orange Glen. The loss places Orange Glen (9-2, 19-6) in a tie for first with Mt. Carmel with one game remaining in league play for both.

Mt. Carmel 8, San Dieguito 3--Tom Cheek (10-2) threw a four-hitter, striking out five, for the victory at Mt. Carmel. Cheek helped his cause by hitting a two-run homer in the fifth, and Mike Limtiaco had a three-run shot in the fourth to pace fourth-ranked Mt. Carmel (9-2, 20-5). Chris Bahr had a solo home run for last-place San Dieguito (1-10, 7-13) in the first.
