Huntington Beach : Woman Is Arrested in Fatal Collision
A South Laguna woman was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence after a passenger in her car died in a Huntington Beach traffic collision, police said Friday.
Elva Pero, 43, of South Laguna was driving southbound on Magnolia Street at about 9:40 p.m. Thursday when she turned her Mercedes-Benz left onto Indianapolis Avenue and into the path of a Cadillac, Sgt. Bob Moran said.
Mary Riley, 52, of South Laguna died of internal injuries at Fountain Valley Hospital, Moran said. Pero was booked on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence, he said. She was released on her own recognizance.
