Spring Valley
A Spring Valley teen-ager died early Sunday when he was thrown from a van and pinned beneath it, the California Highway Patrol reported.
CHP spokeswoman Sher McBrearty said William Keenan, 15, died at Grossmont Hospital shortly after the 12:50 a.m. accident near Harness and Presioca streets in Spring Valley.
McBrearty said Ramon Vader, 18, was driving the van northbound on Presioca Street at a high speed and attempted to make a left turn onto Harness Street. The van left the road and struck an embankment.
Vader, also of Spring Valley, suffered moderate injuries. He was treated at Grossmont Hospital and released. Keenan’s brother, Robert, 13, suffered minor injuries but was not hospitalized.
