Detroit Piston forward Adrian Dantley was released from a hospital Sunday after being treated overnight for a concussion he suffered a day earlier when he collided with a teammate during an NBA playoff game against the Boston Celtics.

A spokesman at Massachusetts General Hospital said Dantley was listed in good condition during his stay at the hospital, where he was taken after being carried off the Boston Garden floor on a stretcher.

“He’s very stable and coming home,” Detroit team physician Dr. Benjamin Paolucci said. “He had a loss of memory after the accident but that is improving and he has improved all along.”

Paolucci said Dantley was unconscious for “20 or 30 seconds” after the collision with teammate Vinnie Johnson. Initially, he was unable to move his left leg when he was revived on the court at Boston Garden.

Dantley and Johnson collided as they scrambled on the floor for a loose ball with eight seconds left in the third quarter of the game eventually won by the Celtics, 117-114.

Dantley remained on the floor for about 10 minutes, where he was examined by Celtics’ team physician Dr. Thomas Silva and Detroit trainer Mike Abdenour. Johnson got up soon after the collision and returned to the game after applying an ice pack to his head.

Detroit had an 80-79 lead at the time of the injury. Dantley scored 10 of his 18 points in the third quarter. He entered the game with a 24.5 scoring average in the first six games of the series.
