Parking Meters’ Time Running Out
Parking meters will be removed from city lots at Montrose Shopping Park, and posted parking time at nearby street meters will be doubled to two hours under an ordinance adopted Tuesday by the Glendale City Council.
Montrose merchants have long opposed the lot meters, saying they discourage shoppers.
To make up for the loss of an estimated $7,000 in annual revenue, the ordinance doubled the cost of street parking along nearby Honolulu Avenue to 50 cents an hour from 25 cents.
The ordinance becomes effective in 30 days. City officials expect to begin removing the parking lots’ 197 meters shortly thereafter.
