Actor Jim Belushi was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery as the result of an incident in which he allegedly knocked down Bobby Ray Henson, 43, a Santa Monica accountant, for spitting at the car of Belushi’s girlfriend. Deputy Los Angeles City Atty. Peter Covette said Belushi reportedly was driving Margorie Barnsfield’s BMW in Westwood last Jan. 2, when he either failed to slow or came close to Henson, who was walking across the street at an intersection. Belushi allegedly jumped out of the car and shoved Henson to the ground, damaging three of his teeth. Henson required more than a dozen stitches for a cut mouth. Belushi is to be arraigned June 17 in West Los Angeles Municipal Court.
