The Sheriff’s Department resumed its periodic searches of visitors at Los Angeles County jails, arresting 14 people caught trying to smuggle drugs and weapons to inmates, authorities said. Two handguns and a small amount of “crack” cocaine were confiscated by deputies, who searched visitors streaming into the Biscailuz Center at 1060 N. Eastern Ave., Deputy Dan Cox said. Biscailuz is one of eight jails in the county.
