The Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners voted Wednesday to allow Catalina Channel Express to expand its operations at the Catalina Terminal in San Pedro.
The company, which operates passenger boats between San Pedro and Santa Catalina Island, was given permission to double its office space on the mezzanine level of the terminal.
The board also granted the company rights to an additional 8,200 square feet of water next to the terminal so it can expand its docks. The company currently has rights to about 16,000 square feet of water.
Under the agreement, Catalina Channel Express is required to increase its monthly minimum payment to the Harbor Department from $1,597 to $2,375.
