Woman Killed in Her 2nd Leap Onto Freeway
A 40-year-old woman who had been under psychiatric care since she tried the same thing at the same place seven years ago was killed Wednesday when she jumped from the Western Avenue bridge onto the Hollywood Freeway, police said.
Jean Kuppenbach reportedly was struck by several cars and dragged a short distance before a motorist stopped and moved her body off the freeway, then drove on. Traffic was snarled for 3 1/2 hours.
Police said Kuppenbach was hospitalized for 14 months after her first attempt.
