Some University of Miami football players are “mental dropouts” who know they are not doing well in school but do little to change their situation, according to a study conducted last year.
In a poll of 94 scholarship players, 14 said they were in school only to play football. Only 48 of the 94 said they spent more than four hours a week studying.
