South Laguna : Man’s Body Found in Ocean Near Aliso Pier
The body of a man was discovered floating about a quarter mile offshore from the Aliso Pier in South Laguna on Thursday, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
The man, David Michael Walsh, 45, of Garden Grove, appeared to have drowned, with no foul play suspected, Lt. Richard J. Olson said. However, a coroner’s spokesman said Thursday afternoon that an investigation into the cause of the man’s death is continuing.
Olson said the fully clothed body was spotted by the pilot of a small plane flying over the area about 7:45 a.m. The Coast Guard contacted the sheriff’s Harbor Patrol, which retrieved the body with a fireboat about 8:10 a.m., he said.
It is not known what caused Walsh to enter the water, Olson said, adding that the man had a history of epileptic seizures. The investigation is continuing, he said.
