Local News in Brief : Driver, Thrown From Van, Dies on Freeway
Adriver who fell asleep behind the wheel was killed when he was thrown from his van on the Golden State Freeway near Castaic early Saturday.
Brett Lundgren, 26, of Los Gatos was driving his 1975 Dodge south on the freeway just south of Templin Highway when he fell asleep, drifted across a lane toward the left shoulder and overturned on the dirt median, California Highway Patrol Officer Kent Buzbee said.
His passenger, William Smith, 26, also of Los Gatos, also was thrown from the car but received only minor injuries. He was treated at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital in Valencia, Buzbee said.
