A Torrance woman was shot and fatally wounded by her boyfriend, who was later wounded and captured in an exchange of gunfire with police and sheriff’s deputies, police said. Torrance police Lt. Wally Murker said witnesses saw Timothy McEleney, 28, shoot Karen Hinkston, 24, several times during an argument at her home in the 2800 block of 232rd St. She was dead on arrival at Torrance Memorial Hospital Medical Center. McEleney fled, but a description of his car was broadcast and it was later spotted by deputies, who gave chase and were joined by Torrance police. McEleney’s car was forced off Rosecrans Avenue near the Hawthorne Boulevard intersection in Lawndale where, Murker said, McEleney exchanged gunfire with the officers. McEleney was taken to Daniel Freeman Memorial Hospital in Inglewood, where he was reported in stable condition after being booked on suspicion of murder.
