Manhattan Beach : Holmes Picked as Mayor
Councilman Robert Holmes was selected by the City Council Tuesday as mayor, succeeding Jan Denis. This is the second mayoral term for Holmes, who also headed the council in 1980.
Councilman Larry Dougherty is the new mayor pro tem.
The office of mayor is rotated among the five council members, each of whom serves for nine months.
“I want the City Council to function with dignity, to maintain decorum in the council chambers and to see substantial progress in making affordable senior housing available in this city,” said Holmes.
