Clifford Wimberly, the Santee father convicted of arranging sexual encounters for his 14-year-old son with an El Cajon woman, was ordered Tuesday to undergo a diagnostic study at Chino State Prison.

San Diego Superior Court Judge Wayne Peterson said he wanted “another viewpoint” of the case from prison officials who will determine whether he should be placed on probation or given a prison sentence.

Peterson said that Wimberly, 37, got “some kind of weird pleasure” in arranging the liaisons with Carole Swenson, 23, in which Wimberly took photographs of some sexual encounters.

The judge said the encounters were part of Wimberly’s “forest of immorality” that began when his son was 11.

Peterson set sentencing for Sept. 21. Wimberly could face 11 years in state prison.

Wimberly pleaded guilty April 17 to two counts of aiding and abetting lewd acts with a minor. Swenson, who will be sentenced July 17, pleaded guilty to unlawful intercourse with a minor and performing a lewd act with a minor.

Wimberly’s wife, Victoria, 35, and their two children urged the judge to give him a lenient sentence.

The judge noted that the Probation Department recommended an eight-year term for Wimberly and a six-year term for Swenson.
