Fundamentalist Hails Resignation of Justice Powell

Speaking under a banner that read, “Pray out four more evil Supreme Court members,” a Los Angeles fundamentalist preacher who is against pro-abortion members of the U.S. Supreme Court Sunday praised the resignation of Justice Lewis F. Powell.
Robert L. Hymers Jr. held a special service at the Ambassador Hotel for about 300 members of the Fundamentalist Baptist Tabernacle to mark Powell’s announced retirement, saying, “Thank God He’s moved the mind of this evil, filthy man . . . to resign.”
Last year, Hymers, 46, called for divine intervention against the justices by “repentance, retirement or removal by any means God sees fit.”
