Ninety-six new cases of AIDS were diagnosed in San Francisco during June, health officials reported. It was one of the lowest monthly increases of the year. Dr. George Lemp, chief of AIDS surveillance for the city’s Health Department, said the downward shift is a normal fluctuation for June. The number of AIDS deaths in June also declined--61, compared with 77 during May. Lemp noted that Asians made up 3.1% of the new acquired immune deficiency syndrome patients during the first half of 1987, compared with 1.6% for the same period last year.
