High-weighted Broad Brush fought off a challenge by Chilean-import Set Style Saturday to win by a neck in the $387,100 Suburban Handicap at Belmont Park.

Broad Brush, a 4-year-old who finished third in the 1986 Kentucky Derby, chased pacesetter Lac Ouimet through the first mile before opening a half-length lead as Lac Ouimet tired.

Set Style rallied down the stretch but could not get past Broad Brush. Bordeaux Bob also mounted a late challenge and finished third, a neck behind Set Style.

Jockey Herb McCauley and Reel Easy, a 40-1 longshot, held on for a two-length victory over Chris McCarron and Lady’s Secret in the $165,000 Grade II Molly Pitcher Handicap at Monmouth Park in Oceanport, N.J.

The winner, trained by Mitchell C. Preger, returned $87.20, $12 and $2.10 after running the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42. Lady’s Secret paid $2.60 and $2.10, and Catatonic paid $2.10 for show.
