Local News in Brief : Council Acts to Extend Sesnon Boulevard

Share

The Los Angeles City Council on Tuesday took steps to connect a gap in Sesnon Boulevard between Granada Hills and Porter Ranch that would provide an east-west thoroughfare north of Rinaldi Street.

The council instructed the city engineer to prepare plans and a cost estimate for building a bridge to extend Sesnon east of Reseda Boulevard over Aliso Creek. The council also approved financing the project from a yet-to-be-determined fee on developers of housing in the canyons and hills between Granada Hills and Porter Ranch.

West Valley Councilman Hal Bernson, who requested the action, said there is no immediate need to connect Sesnon Boulevard. But, he said, “That area is going to be developing. . . . The time to start planning for that is not after the congestion occurs.”

An aide to Bernson said the project would probably take five years.
