A 23-month-old Fresno girl was severely burned by after-shave lotion that ignited when she spilled it on an electric fan. Fire investigators said the lotion, which is 75% to 80% alcohol, seeped into the fan’s control panel and was ignited by a spark. The fan continued to operate and blew the burning liquid on the baby. Cynthia Siotecohen was showered by the flames and suffered second- and third-degree burns over 30% of her body. She was hospitalized in fair condition. Her mother, who was bathing her 5-month-old son when the accident happened, smothered her daughter’s burning clothing with a sheet and then called for help.
