5 Killed When Van Rams Car
A newspaper delivery van rammed into a compact car early today, killing all five occupants of the car, including a pregnant woman, and critically injuring the truck driver, police said.
The San Jose Mercury News delivery van driven by Ben Guzman, 52, slammed into the side of a car carrying three men and two women, all of them in their late teens or early 20s, at an intersection on Coleman Road, Sgt. Charles Blackmore said. The van driver was taken to Valley Medical Center, where he was in critical condition and underwent surgery for massive head injuries. Names of the other victims were withheld pending notification of relatives.
