Two Orange County Men Killed in Pickup Accident on U.S. 395
Two Orange County men were killed Friday when the pickup truck in which they were riding crashed off U.S. 395 and down an embankment, the California Highway Patrol said.
CHP Officer Paul Pino said Gerald N. Lembke, 54, of Anaheim and his son Mitchell N. Lembke, 33, of Orange, were dead at scene. The driver, Martin C. Lembke, 26, of Anaheim, another son, received minor injuries and was taken to Southern Inyo Hospital in Lone Pine, where he was reported in stable condition.
Pino said Martin Lembke was driving north about 5:45 a.m. when he apparently became distracted. The pickup drifted off the road to the right, and Lembke apparently overcorrected, sending the vehicle off the west side of the road and down the 10-foot embankment.
All the occupants were ejected.
The accident occurred about 30 miles south of here, 120 miles north of Los Angeles.
