The New York Yankees acquired left-handed pitcher Steve Trout from the Chicago Cubs Sunday for three minor-league pitchers.
Trout, 29, is 5-3 with a 3.41 earned-run average in 10 games. He pitched shutouts in his last two starts for the Cubs.
The three pitchers obtained by the Cubs are right-handers Bob Tewksbury and Dean Wilkins and left-hander Rich Scheid.
An angry Trout refused to talk about the trade after the Cubs’ 12-0 loss to the Dodgers, and Cub Manager Gene Michael didn’t seemed pleased, either.
“I knew nothing about it,” Michael said. “They told me in the dugout in the ninth inning. I like Rainbow (Trout). They knew I liked him. I’m sure they took that into consideration.”
