A semipro bowler rolled three consecutive perfect games but missed making the record book because he was in a non-sanctioned tournament.

John Strausbaugh of York rolled 36 consecutive strikes Saturday at Sunset Lanes in Columbia Pa. His achievement, confirmed by tournament judge Joe Jameson, made him one of only six people ever to score the maximum 900 total in a three-game series, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.

The highest individual score for a sanctioned three-game series is 886, by Albert (Allie) Brandt of Lockport, N.Y, in 1939.

Glenn Allison of La Habra, was cited by Guinness for a perfect 900 in league play in 1982. However, the American Bowling Congress refused to recognize the score because an ABC inspector determined the lanes had been illegally oiled.
