Replacing David Lee Roth as lead singer in hard-rocking Van Halen has done wonders for Sammy Hagar’s solo career. His new album, “Sammy Hagar,” has shot up to No. 25 on the Billboard magazine pop album chart in just three weeks. The rappin’ Fat Boys’ “Crushin”’ (No. 23) is rushin’ to the Top 10. So is Suzanne Vega’s “Solitude Standing” (No. 16). Whitney Houston’s “Whitney” is the No. 1 pop album for the fifth straight week. Its should stay on top for the next few weeks because it doesn’t have any serious challengers. Roger Waters’ “Radio K.O.A.S.” (No. 50) is rising very slowly--like his solo career. T’Pau debuted in the Top 10 with its single “Heart and Soul” (No. 8). Hot singles:Suzanne Vega’s “Luka” (No. 15), Madonna’s “Who’s That Girl” (No. 26), Los Lobos’ “La Bamba” (No. 30) and “Love Power,” (No. 40) the Jeffrey Osborne-Dionne Warwick duet. Heart’s “Alone” is all by itself atop the singles chart.
