Two police officers who scuffled with four New York Mets at a Houston bar last summer filed a $10.2-million suit against the players and the team, claiming that they have suffered anguish and ridicule because of the incident.
Ron Darling, Bobby Ojeda, Rick Aguilera and Tim Teufel were named in the suit filed by Houston policemen Randal Gresham and Dale Bristley.
Darling and Teufel were indicted on assault charges but pleaded no contest in January to resisting arrest. They were fined $200 and put on probation. Aguilera and Ojeda were arrested for hindering arrest, but the charges against them were dropped.
