Castaic Lake Search Continues for Boater

Share

Divers will continue searching today for a North Hollywood man believed to have drowned Saturday while boating in Castaic Lake, authorities said.

The search for Ulises Arqueta, 25, was suspended Sunday after divers failed to find his body in 110 feet of water near Sharon’s Rest, Sheriff’s Deputy Eric Smith said.

Smith said Arqueta and his girlfriend, Elva Delgado, took a rented boat to that spot about 4:40 p.m. Saturday and Arqueta dived into the water. After swimming a few yards away, Arqueta called for his girlfriend to bring the boat over to him, but she did not know how to operate it, Smith said.

Los Angeles County lifeguards searched unsuccessfully for Arqueta in 100 feet of water on Saturday. On Sunday, divers from the Sheriff’s emergency services detail and Marine Company Reserve Divers took over the search.
