RICK REUSCHEL: He had won 9 games, but seven other Pittsburgh starters had won a total of only 19 in the club’s 72 starts through Thursday. JIM ACKER: The Atlanta pitcher is 0-11 for his last 49 appearances. Teammate Zane Smith is 4-7 in his last 14 starts despite having led in 13 of them.
