Hydra Baths Maintains Lead in Pacific 1,000

Team Hydra Baths, skippered by Randy Hatfield of Dana Point, maintained its lead Saturday after the fifth leg of the Pacific 1,000 Catamaran Marathon.

Team Girardi Racing, skippered by Bret Watson of Sydney, Australia, won Saturday’s 32-mile race from San Diego to Oceanside in light winds in 4 hours 21 minutes 36 seconds.

Team Hydra Baths finished second in 4:23.51.

Through five legs of the 12-leg competition, Team Hydra Baths has a total time of 29 hours, 22 minutes, 9 seconds. Team Girardi Racing is second with a time of 29:38.22.

Hall Auto Racing, skippered by Roy Seaman of Malibu, finished third in Saturday’s race with a time of 4:26.09. Hall Auto Racing is in fifth place overall with a total time of 30:09.45.

In third place overall is Team Don-A-Vee, skippered by Don Langton of Cerritos, with a time of 30:06.48. Team Don-A-Vee finished seventh in Saturday’s race.

In fourth place overall is Team U.S. Marines, skippered by Mike Christensen of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with a time of 30:09.34. Team U.S. Marines finished fifth in Saturday’s race.
